Unwrapping the New Education Policy

The Union Cabinet approved the National Education Policy 2020, paving way for transformational reforms in the higher education sector in the country. To discuss the
“Path-breaking inclusive ideas in the New Education Policy” Macmillan Education organized a webinar on 20th August 2020. The webinar imparted valuable lessons that are the need of the hour in this rapidly changing world where education plays a crucial role. The staff members of Dynasty International School attended the webinar to understand the outline of the New Education Policy.

This webinar was hosted by Ms. Vandana Juneja, Director Macmillan Education, She along with other eminent educationists highlighted the important points of the New Education Policy and also did a critical analysis of the policy to explain the objectives of the forthcoming changes that the new policy will offer. The discussion started with the point that NEP 2020 will replace the 10+2 schooling system by the 5+3+3+4 structure. It will include 12 years of the schooling system and three years of Anganwadi and pre-schooling. The eminent panelist explicitly explained the challenges that are being faced by students who find themselves in No man’s land after achieving good grades. Rote-learning and valueless education have just put children under immense pressure, Moreover, fruits of knowledge are hardly in their reach of edification.

The group of distinguished guests in the webinar discussed many valuable points that should be kept in mind while dealing with children; considering every child as special. Their visionary guidance and unbelievable strategy for effective implementation of the policy were exceptional. Finally, teachers were immensely pleased by the interactive session and were obliged to learn such beneficial outcomes of the New Policy.

Similarly, another Zoom webinar was hosted on 28th August 2020 on ‘ Rebooting K-12 Education in the context of the NEW NEP’ as part of our “Learning & Education Leadership Talk Series -2”. Mr. Anil Swarup, Former Secretary, School Education, Government of India was the Chief Guest. He was joined by panelists – Ms. Amrita Burman and Dr. Punam Kashyap which was organized by Indiannica Learning. All the teachers of Dynasty International School actively participated in this webinar.

The panelists discussed the Implementation of NEP, Experiential learning, NGO’s participation, and Recognition. The four developmental stages of NEP which are divided in 5+3+3+4 manner aims to focus on the cognitive-developmental stages of the child – early childhood, school years, and secondary stage. They also laid stress on the present condition of schools and how this new policy can bring reforms in the teaching and learning field.
It was also discussed how this policy is going to be implemented in rural areas. National Education Policy 2020 envisions an India-centric education system that contributes directly to transforming our nation sustainably into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society by providing high-quality education to all. This policy aims at reducing the curriculum load of students and allowing them to be more “inter-disciplinary” and “multi-lingual”.

Dynasty International School is trying to train faculties and teachers for the new model of education. We hope that this NEP policy will give both teachers and students some constructive results.
